Tell us a little about yourself and why you got involved in 2Up 2Down?

I’m a volunteer at the ABCC which is a local youth centre and when the idea for 2Up 2Down project came about two years ago I jumped on board and got involved. As I live in the area, I was asked if I’d like to be involved as a client for the homes that are planned to be built next door to the bakery. So I’ve been in the workshops with the girls who attend the ABCC ever since really. Housing is an issue I’ve thought about before because with the whole regeneration process going on around here, the heart’s really gone out of Anfield. So with this project and the CLT [Community Land Trust] in particular, I really hope it will bring something back to the area.

2Up 2Down has also come a long way – in the beginning it was all on paper and now it’s all taken off and we’ve also had so many opportunities. Ive been down to London to collect an award and been able to meet some fantastic people and fantastic artists. I’ve also learnt a lot about Anfield, the building process and I think I’ve learnt a lot about myself. I think I’ve grown up a lot during the project. What I think 2Up 2Down could do is bring people together – then Anfield can become Anfield again as it was twenty-thirty years ago with the family and the heart back into it.

What does living well mean to you?

Living well is being happy and having your family and friends around you and being safe and secure in the area that you live in. It’s that simple.
