Homebaked Community Land Trust

Homebaked Community Land  Trust was established in April 2012 by a group of local people who have been meeting and developing ideas together since September 2011.

A Community Land Trust is a not-for-profit community organisation, run by volunteers.  Anyone with an interest in the future of the local neighbourhood may become a member.

Homebaked CLT will provide affordable homes for local people whose needs have not been addressed by conventional development.  We will remodel and retrofit the Bakery and a number of empty terraced houses through a community-engaged design process and built by local workforce.  We will source materials ethically and locally, and try to ensure that funding attracted to the project is kept in the area. Once the model is proven we will develop further housing-with-workspace “blocks” in the area.

We’re very proud to have won the Award for Excellence in Community Engagement at the National Community Land Trust Conference in May 2012.
